Organic colours and textured surfaces were the winners in last night’s kitchen reveals on The Block, with contestants wowing the judges with a range of unique and contemporary kitchen designs. In a move away from clean, neutral spaces often seen in modern homes, this year’s renovations saw the use of natural hues and surfaces that add depth and interest to the kitchens.
As seen in The Good Guys Kitchens on The Block, quartz surface specialists, Cosentino helped the couples create modern, functional kitchens that reflect their personal styles and the premium environment of The Block’s South Yarra location.
Ayden and Jess took out this week’s renovation challenge, with their kitchen showcasing a modern take on traditional kitchen style. Ayden and Jess chose the neutral, veined tones of Silestone® Lyra for the benchtop, providing a clean, natural look to their classically-styled kitchen. The marbling of Silestone® Lyra against the organic wood walls adds interest and depth to the space to the light, traditional kitchen.
Gary Isherwood, Area Manager for Cosentino Australia, said: “This year’s renovations highlight the popularity of natural, organic colours and materials to create modern designs and stellar spaces. We’ve seen a growing trend of contrasting materials like wood and marbled surfaces meeting to create rooms with depth and added interest, evident in a number of the kitchen renovations on The Block: Triple Threat.”
“Each of the kitchens are both stylish and functional spaces that the future apartment owners will be able to enjoy for many years to come.”
The Block kitchens:
- Apartment 1 – Darren and Deanne chose to combine white and timber cabinetry, seamlessly blended with the charcoal tone of Silestone® Cemento Spa with Suede finish adding intensity and a matt, textured ultra glam look to their kitchen. The addition of a floating island in Silestone® Pulsar completes the modern, glamorous space, where the marbled grey and honey hues contrast perfectly with the traditional white and timber.
- Apartment 2 – Tim and Anastasia combined dual-toned cabinetry and soft, modern styling to create a balanced, monochrome kitchen. The soft grey of Silestone® Lagoon blends seamlessly with the dual-toned cabinetry and light, open space, producing a modern kitchen where elegance meets neutral hues.
- Apartment 3 – Josh and Charlotte opted for a minimalist kitchen that combines class and style. The subtle marbling of Silestone® Lagoon, combined with the bold grey veining of the Silestone® Helix island, combine perfectly to create a timeless, stylish kitchen.
- Apartment 4 – Ayden and Jess chose the neutral, veined tones of Silestone® Lyra for the benchtop, providing a clean, natural look to their classically-styled kitchen. The marbling of Silestone® Lyra against the organic wood walls adds interest and depth to the space to the light, traditional kitchen.
